Flying – Prescribing of sedatives

Unfortunately due to updates in the medico-legal field, GPs are now advised to not issue sedatives for flying as the doctors would be liable for any adverse event which occurred while flying. It creates a risk should there be an emergency situation in which the patient may need to take action. For management of fear of flying the patient may be best suited speaking to a psychologist as they can likely offer a long term solution for the patient.
